The UConn Huskies and the Marquette Golden Eagles meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Fiserv Forum. UConn beat Seton Hall in their last outing, improving the Huskies to 26-3 so far. As for Marquette, they’re 22-7 after a loss to Creighton over the weekend. Let’s get into our UConn vs Marquette prediction. UConn Huskies

The Huskies haven’t had a lot of difficulties this season. UConn lost just two of their first 26 games, falling to Kansas 69-65 and Seton Hall 75-60 in December. Following a lengthy winning streak the Huskies took another loss to Creighton on February 20 before more wins over Villanova and Seton Hall.

In the Seton Hall matchup on Sunday, the Huskies were able to cruise to a routine victory. UConn jumped out to a 44-29 edge by halftime then hit a 47-32 run from there in a 91-61 blowout result. Stephon Castle led the team on his 21 points with four rebounds and three assists.

Marquette Golden Eagles

Over on the Marquette side, they started off the year at 11-5 through their first 16 games. The Eagles would then hit an eight-game win streak before a loss to UConn on February 17. Following wins over DePaul, Xavier and Providence, Marquette took another loss to Creighton.

Matched up against Creighton, the Golden Eagles faced a 42-40 deficit by halftime. Marquette didn’t get any closer on a 47-35 second-half run and limped to the loss 89-75 in the end. Kam Jones was the top scorer on the team with 23 points, three assists and one rebound.

ANDREW’S FREE UCONN VS MARQUETTE PREDICTION

I’ll lean toward UConn, but you could probably argue this one either way. The Huskies posted another dominant performance in their latest win over Seton Hall, hitting a nice 55.9 percent from the field. UConn added 38 rebounds, 23 team assists and just five turnovers but they weren’t perfect from the line (70.4 percent). Still, the Huskies have scored 71 or more points in nine of their last 10 games now.

In the last meeting between these teams on February 17, UConn cruised to an easy home win 81-53. The Huskies managed a 45-27 rebounding edge in that one and shot 46 percent from the field. Marquette should be ready for the home rematch though, so the Eagles won’t go away quietly. I still think UConn takes the road cover in this one, but Marquette will make things interesting.
