The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Maryland Terrapins meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Xfinity Center College Park. Iowa comes into this one at 14-10 following a win over Minnesota on Sunday. Iowa Hawkeyes
Iowa managed an 11-6 run over their first 17 games this year, losing to only Creighton, Oklahoma, Purdue, Iowa State, Michigan and Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes are just 3-4 in their last seven outings though, falling to Purdue, Maryland, Indiana and Penn State along the way.
Back on Sunday versus Minnesota, the Hawkeyes faced a 51-38 deficit in the locker room. Iowa stormed back on a 52-34 run from there however, taking the eventual victory 90-85. Patrick McCaffery (bench) and Payton Sandfort (eight rebounds; three steals) each scored 21 points.

Maryland Terrapins
Over on the Maryland side, they were 11-6 through 17 games as well with losses to Davidson, UAB, Villanova, Indiana, Purdue and Minnesota. The Terrapins are 2-5 in their last seven with losses to Northwestern, Michigan State (twice), Rutgers and Ohio State alongside wins over Iowa and Nebraska.
In the Ohio State game over the weekend, the Terrapins took a tough loss. Maryland scored 32 points in the first half, 29 in the second and 14 in two overtimes during a 79-75 result. Tops in scoring was Jahmir Young with 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists in 48 minutes of action.
ANDREW’S FREE IOWA VS MARYLAND PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward Maryland. Both these teams could use a good showing, though. The Terrapins couldn’t quite topple Ohio State in their last game, shooting a tepid 38.7 percent from the field and 66.7 percent (20-of-30) from the line. Maryland rebounded well (42), but it wasn’t enough to offset the sketchy shooting. The Terrapins have been below 60 points in three of the last six games, so a good points total here would be a promising sign.
These teams last met on January 24 in a 69-67 road win for Maryland. The Terrapins were outmuscled on the boards 36-29 and coughed up 14 turnovers but shot well on 47.1 percent from the field. This one’s probably going to be close as well, but I like Maryland to power out the cover at home in the end.
