Maryland vs Saint Peter’s 12/22/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Saint Peter’s Peacocks and the Maryland Terrapins meet Thursday in college basketball action from Xfinity Center College Park. Saint Peter’s is 6-5 so far this year. The Peacocks beat Quinnipiac in their last game. As for Maryland, they’re currently 8-3 after a loss to UCLA last week. Saint Peter’s went 4-2 over their first six outings this year. The losses came to Seton Hall and St. Francis BK. The Peacocks are 2-3 since then with losses to Mount St. Mary’s, Fairfield and Saint Joseph’s during that stretch. 

Back on Sunday versus Quinnipiac, the Peacocks trailed 29-27 going into halftime. Saint Peter’s surged on a 36-27 second-half run for a 63-56 comeback win. Tops in scoring was Isiah Dasher with 29 points and four assists. 

Over on the Maryland side, they stormed out of the gate with an 8-0 run versus Niagara, WCU, Binghamton, Saint Louis, Miami-FL, Coppin State, Louisville and Illinois. The Terrapins have since lost to Wisconsin, Tennessee and UCLA. 

Matched up against UCLA back on December 14, the Terrapins were drilled 49-20 in the first half. Maryland managed 40 points after the break but still lost big 87-60. Leading scorer Ian Martinez finished with 16 points. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Maryland. The Terrapins didn’t fare very well versus a great UCLA team in their last outing, giving up 55.6 percent shooting to the Bruins. Maryland has been through a gauntlet of four ranked teams in their last four games, going just 1-3 in that time. That said, the Terrapins only lost the other two games by a combined eight points. As for Saint Peter’s, they’re coming off a scrappy comeback win over a pretty good Quinnipiac team. The peacocks haven’t cracked 63 points in any of their last five games however, and they won’t be able to keep up with Maryland if the Terrapins are playing to their capabilities.
