The East Texas A&M Lions and the McNeese State Cowboys meet Monday in college basketball action from the Legacy Center. Here’s a McNeese State vs East Texas A&M prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best McNeese State vs East Texas A&M pick.
East Texas A&M Lions Betting Preview
It’s been a tough year so far for East Texas A&M, to put it mildly. The wins have been very few and far between. The Lions beat Southern in game four, then fell to UConn, Oklahoma, Stonehill, Fort Wayne, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, and South Alabama before another win over Abilene Christian. Losses to USF, McNeese, Nicholls, Northwestern State, UTRGV, New Orleans, SE Louisiana, Lamar, Stephen F. Austin, and Texas A&M-CC (with a lone win over Northwestern State) came after that, giving the Linos a 3-20 overall run through 20 games.
In the Nicholls rematch on Saturday, the Lions held a 37-33 halftime edge but fell apart in the second half. East Texas A&M was outscored 48-28 the rest of the way and ended up falling 81-65. Scooter Williams led the way with his 22 points, six assists, and four rebounds off the bench. KC Ugwuakazi added 15 points with seven rebounds in 30 minutes of work.
McNeese State Cowboys Betting Preview
Over on the Cowboys’ side, they were shaky on a .500 run through mid-December. Since then, however, McNeese has looked much better. The Cowboys lost to South Dakota State, Alabama, Liberty, Santa Clara, and Mississippi State in their first 10, with wins otherwise over College of Biblical Studies, North Texas, Illinois State, Longwood, and LeTourneau. A win streak over Louisiana, New Orleans, SE Louisiana, East Texas A&M, Northwestern State, Nicholls, Houston Christian, Lamar, Stephen F. Austin, UTRGV, and Texas A&M-CC came next, then a loss to Nicholls. After another victory over Incarnate Word in the next game, the Cowboys held a 17-6 overall record through their opening 23 games of the season.
Matched up against Northwestern State in the Saturday outing, the Cowboys jumped out to a 25-15 halftime lead. McNeese State kept it going in the second half with a 40-35 run and took the eventual win 65-50. Javohn Garcia led the team with 22 points, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals. DJ Richards added 12 points with one rebound, one assist, and three steals in 28 minutes of action. Tops in scoring off the bench was Sincere Parker with 15 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 20 minutes out on the court during the win.

McNeese State vs East Texas A&M Prediction
I’ll stay with the Cowboys. In their weekend matchup against Northwestern State, McNeese State didn’t have the greatest game, but it was enough to win. The Cowboys shot just 38 percent from the field and had 15 turnovers for 11 Demons points. McNeese’s 33-29 rebounding advantage and 22 points off 21 Northwestern State turnovers really helped turn the tide, though. The Cowboys can’t count on mistakes in every game, but a win is a win. That said, McNeese has been below 68 points in three straight outings (a 2-1 run) with a tepid 132 combined points in their last pair.
These teams last saw each other back on January 4. The Cowboys took a decisive road win in that one 75-56 amid their win streak. McNeese ended up shooting a healthy 50.9 percent from the field with a 42-35 rebounding edge, holding the Lions to just 31.3 percent on the other side. It was a sloppy game on both sides though, with McNeese committing 15 of the 31 total turnovers for 21 Lions points. Provided the Cowboys can fix their mistakes in the home rematch, however, they should control this game easily.
