The Florida Atlantic Owls and the Memphis Tigers meet Sunday in college basketball action from FedExForum. Here’s a Memphis vs Florida Atlantic Prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Memphis vs FAU pick.

Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview

The Owls have had a pretty choppy year overall so far, but they’ve been able to stave off the .500 mark in the record column. Florida Atlantic opened on a 4-5 run with wins over Indiana State, Coastal Georgia, Liberty and Oklahoma State among losses to UCF, Charleston, Drake, Seton Hall and Florida Gulf Coast. A 6-5 run came next with wins over FIU, Jacksonville, Texas State, East Carolina, Charlotte and Rice among losses to Michigan State, Memphis, UAB, Tulane and North Texas. After wins versus UTSA, South Florida, Tulsa, Charlotte and Temple, the Owls fell to Wichita State. That gives FAU a 15-11 overall run through 26 games so far.

In the Wichita State matchup back on Thursday, the Owls came out of the first half with a 36-27 deficit. Florida Atlantic got better in the second half with a 40-39 advantage but it wasn’t enough in a 75-68 win. Kaleb Glenn led the team in 24 minutes off the bench, notching 16 points with three boards and a steal. Tre Carroll (two rebounds; two assists; four steals), Leland Walker (three assists; three steals) and Ken Evans (four rebounds) each had 11 points in the defeat. Niccolo Moretti chipped with nine points and four boards off the bench as well.

Memphis Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Memphis side, they’ve done pretty well overall this year with only a handful of scattered losses. The Tigers opened on a 9-3 stretch over their first dozen outings, losing to Auburn, Arkansas State and Mississippi State among wins over Missouri, UNLV, Ohio, San Francisco, UConn, Michigan State, LA Tech, Clemson and Virginia in that time. Memphis went 12-1 over the next 13 outings with a lone loss to Temple among wins over Ole Miss, FAU, North Texas, East Carolina, Charlotte, Wichita State, UAB, Tulane, Rice, Tulsa Temple and South Florida. Next came a loss to Wichita State however, which put the Tigers at 21-5 overall this year through 26 games thus far.

Last weekend in the Wichita State road rematch, the Tigers came back from a 32-28 halftime deficit to force overtime. Memphis eventually lost 84-79, however. Topping the scorers was Tyrese Hunter with 24 points, six rebounds and two assists. PJ Haggerty put up 15 points with eight boards and six assists in the losing effort, and Nicholas Jourdain had 12 points with six boards. Moussa Cisse doubled off the bench with 12 points and 14 rebounds as well.

Memphis vs FAU Prediction

I’ll just stay with Memphis in this one. It’s an interesting matchup, as both teams are coming off losses to Wichita State. The Tigers shot just 36 percent from the field in their defeat by the Shockers, adding a 54-45 rebounding deficit and 10 turnovers. Defensively Memphis held Wichita State to just 40 percent shooting but couldn’t slow them down enough to win. The defeat halts what was a nice eight-game win streak with 68 or more points scored in seven of those outings.

These teams last saw each other back on January 2 in a 90-62 road win for Memphis. The Tigers were locked in during that matchup, posting 55.9 percent shooting from the field and 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from 3-point range alongside a 44-34 rebounding advantage. That said, Memphis did post a very sloppy game ball-control-wise, giving up a whopping 19 turnovers for 13 FAU points. I’d imagine the Tigers will be much more comfortable in the home rematch and won’t make so many mistakes, but they certainly need a bounce-back after the loss to Wichita State last weekend.
