The Temple Owls will travel to FedExForum to take on the Memphis Tigers this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Temple Owls won their 2nd straight game and improved to 15-9 on the season after defeating the Cincinnati Bearcats, 75-71, this past Sunday. Temple was outstanding on the offensive end in the 1st half and was able to hold off a late Cincinnati charge after taking a 62-46 lead midway through the 2nd half. Temple shot 42.3% from the field & 47.4% from beyond the arc while holding Cincinnati to 34.3% shooting from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Owls was Zach Hicks who had 16 points & 7 rebounds.

On the season, Temple is averaging 67.3 ppg on 40.1% shooting from the field. The Owls are averaging 6.5 three-pointers per game on 30.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Temple has been led by Damian Dunn (15.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.0 apg), Jermiah Williams (9.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.4 spg), Tai Strickland (8.4 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.2 apg), & Zach Hicks (7.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg).

Defensively, Temple is holding their opponents to an average of 65.8 ppg on 39.5% shooting from the field. The Owls have a rebound margin of 2.2 and a turnover margin of -0.5.

The Memphis Tigers had their 5-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 15-9 on the season after being defeated by the SMU Mustangs, 73-57, this past Sunday. Memphis struggled on the offensive end in the 2nd half and could not fight back after a 27-3 Mustangs run gave SMU a 68-44 lead with 5:19 left in regulation. Memphis shot 40.3% from the field & 28.6% from beyond the arc while allowing SMU to shoot 49.2% from the field & 38.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Tigers was Lester Quinones who had 13 points, 4 rebounds 3 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Memphis is averaging 76.0 ppg on 47.0% shooting from the field. The Tigers are averaging 76.0 ppg on 47.0% shooting from the field. Offensively, Memphis has been led by Jalen Duren (11.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.1 apg, 2.3 bpg), DeAndre Williams (10.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.5 spg), Landers Nolley II (9.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.1 apg), & Lester Quinones (9.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, Memphis is holding their opponents to an average of 65.8 ppg on 39.5% shooting from the field. The Tigers have a rebound margin of 2.2 and a turnover margin of -0.5.

The Owls are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games & 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games vs. Memphis. The Tigers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games & 6-5-1 ATS in their last 12 home games.

Temple was able to follow-up their impressive win at SMU with a solid victory vs. Cincinnati, however, the Owls still have struggle generating offense this season as Temple comes into this game ranked just 270th in scoring offense, 333rd in FG%, & 318th in 3P-FG%. Memphis struggled against SMU, however, the Tigers have been playing much better as of late, which includes road wins at Houston & Cincinnati, and between the fact that Memphis is 10-2 at home and that I think their offense, which ranks 62nd in scoring offense & 40th in FG%, has plenty of success in this one, I’m taking Memphis to cover this large home spread. Good Luck!
