The Le Moyne Dolphins and the Merrimack Warriors meet Saturday in Northeast Conference Tournament college basketball action from Hammel Court. Let’s get into our Le Moyne vs. Merrimack prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Le Moyne Dolphins

The Dolphins posted a 10-14 run to start the year, capped by a 1-3 stretch in early February. Le Moyne would then hit a 2-2 run with victories over Central Connecticut and Stonehill. Since then it’s been three straight wins over Wagner, St. Francis PA and Fairleigh Dickinson.

In the Fairleigh Dickinson matchup on Wednesday, the Dolphins put up a 42-34 run in the first half. Le Moyne cruised from there on a 40-27 second half and took the victory 82-61 in the end. Leading team scorer Luke Sutherland finished with 22 points and four rebounds.

Merrimack Warriors

Over on the Warriors’ side, they were a rough 9-10 back in mid-January. Merrimack has only lost one game since then, otherwise taking out Stonehill, Wagner, St. Francis PA, Central Connecticut, LIU, Le Moyne, Stonehill, LIU, St. Francis PA, Fairleigh Dickinson and LIU in succession.

In their third matchup this year versus Long Island U, the Warriors held a four-point edge by halftime. Merrimack hit a 29-27 run the rest of the way in a 72-66 victory. Jordan Derkack was tops on his 23 points, 10 boards and five assists alongside three steals in 38 minutes of work.

ANDREW’S FREE LE MOYNE VS MERRIMACK PREDICTION

I’ll likely take a stab on Le Moyne. We should have a pretty fun matchup here regardless, though. The Dolphins didn’t have too many issues versus FDU in their latest outing, hitting 44.3 percent from the field with 42 rebounds and 18 team assists. Le Moyne has now scored 70 or more points in three straight games (all wins).

In the last matchup between these teams, the Dolphins took a 66-50 road loss on February 10. Le Moyne shot a tepid 38 percent in that one and committed 23 turnovers for 30 Warriors points. The Dolphins are certainly going to have to get the ball control in order for this rematch, but I think they’ve got a good chance at a cover if all goes well.
