The Wagner Seahawks and the Merrimack Warriors meet in college basketball action from the Hammel Court on Sunday afternoon.

The Wagner Seahawks will look to build on their 92-85 OT win over Long Island last time out. Alex Morales leads the Seahawks in scoring, rebounding and assists with 17.8 PPG, 7.6 RPG and 3.9 APG while Elijah Ford has 12.6 PPG with 4.9 RPG and Will Martinez has 12.8 PPG with 3.4 APG this season. Raekwon Rogers has 12.2 PPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Wagner so far this season. As a team, Wagner is averaging 67.6 PPG on 48.9% shooting from the field, 25.9% from three and 74.1% from the foul line while allowing 55.2 PPG on 39.9% shooting from the field and 29.7% from three this season.

The Merrimack Warriors will try to bounce back from a 79-63 loss to Bryant last time out. Jordan Minor leads Merrimack in scoring and rebounding with 13.9 PPG and 6.6 RPG as the lone double-digit scorer for the Warriors this season while Malik Edmead has 9.6 PPG and Mikey Watkins has 9.4 PPG with 3.6 RPG and a team-high 3.2 APG as well this season. Ziggy Reid also has 9.6 PPG with 4.7 RPG as well for the Warriors this season. As a team, Merrimack is averaging 55.2 points per game on 40% shooting from the field, 31.7% from three point range and 68.1% from the foul line while allowing 60.2 points per game on 43.1% shooting from the field and 33% from behind the arc this season.

Wagner is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Merrimack is 2-9-1 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 home games while the under is 13-3 in their last 16 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600.

I get the allure of points with a home dog like Merrimack, but the Warriors just don’t score enough to really give themselves a chance in most games. Wagner has been one of the more surprising stories this season, even out of the NEC and I think the Seahawks keep that going with a win here, covering the spread in the process.
