Florida A&M began the year against Kansas State. The Rattlers were down 33-30 at the break and couldn’t make up any ground from there in a 67-57 loss. Top team scorer was MJ Randolph with 27 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
In game two the Rattlers managed to bag their first win over Le Moyne-Owen. Florida A&M scored 50 points in the first half and 45 more in the second for a 95-70 victory. Randolph again led the team with 21 points, 10 assists and nine boards in a near triple-double.
Over on the Miami side, they didn’t have many issues with Canisius and were able to keep the Griffins at bay in their opener during a 77-67 win. In game two, the Hurricanes suffered their first loss of the year, falling 95-89 to UCF.
Miami got back on the W train against Florida Atlantic in their last outing, but it didn’t come easily. The Hurricanes were outscored 46-34 in the second half and had to scramble for a 68-66 win. Isaiah Wong led the way with 18 points and four boards.
The Hurricanes are 0-4 ATS in their last four Sunday games and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five at home. The under is 8-1 in Miami’s last nine on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Rattlers are 4-0 ATS in their last four overall and 2-7 ATS in their last nine Sunday games. The under is 11-3 in the Rattlers’ last 14 overall.
PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Miami in this one. The Hurricanes are going to need a bounce-back performance here, though. All went well in the first half against FAU on Tuesday with a 34-20 edge at the break but Miami struggled from there. The Hurricanes shot a tepid 36.0 percent from the floor and 2-of-10 (20 percent) from 3-point range. Miami should play better here and I like them well enough on a cover.
