Western Michigan Broncos

Western Michigan managed wins over Goshen, Houston Christian, Concordia MI, Siena Heights and Eastern Michigan in their first 16 games. The Broncos are just 1-6 since then with a lone win over Bowling Green during that time. 

On Saturday versus Buffalo, the Broncos were down 39-27 going into the second half. Western Michigan hit a 49-46 run from there and won it 85-76. Tray Maddox was the leading scorer on 21 points and six rebounds. 

Miami-OH RedHawks 

Over on the Miami-OH side, they managed to go 7-9 over their first 16 games of the year. The RedHawks have lost to Ball State, Northern Illinois, Bowling Green, Akron, Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Ohio in their last seven games. 

Matched up against Ohio on Saturday, the RedHawks were down 33-29 at the break. Miami-OH was outscored 45-39 from there and lost 78-68. Mekhi Lairy led the way with 24 points and five rebounds in the defeat.

I’m sticking with Miami-OH. Probably not touching this one, though. There’s not a ton of intrigue involved in a matchup between two teams with a combined 33 losses, however this should at least be a competitive matchup. Miami-OH has lost seven straight games but they’re still scoring pretty well. The RedHawks have put up 68 or more points in six straight outings. Miami-OH is giving up points by the truckload on the other wise: 73 or more in eight straight. I like a high-scoring finish here, with the RedHawks powering out a cover.
