The Charleston Southern Buccaneers and the Miami Hurricanes meet Saturday in college basketball action from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Here’s a Miami vs Charleston Southern prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Miami vs Charleston Southern pick.
Charleston Southern Buccaneers Betting Preview
The Bucs lost their first two games this year versus Clemson and North Florida, then took a win over Morris. The next five games were all losses, as Charleston Southern dropped to UTRGV, VMI, LSU, Furman, and Georgia Tech.
In the Georgia Tech game on Wednesday, the Buccaneers were trailing by 15 points by halftime and didn’t get any better from there. Charleston Southern lost 91-67 after a 44-35 second half. Taje’ Kelly led the team in the losing effort with 20 points and five boards.
Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview
Over on the Hurricanes’ side, they strolled through their first three games with wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, Binghamton, and Coppin State. Miami has hit the skids since then, however, falling to Drake, Oklahoma State, and VCU.
Back on Sunday versus VCU, the Hurricanes came out of the break with a 42-33 deficit. Miami hit a 37-35 run the rest of the way but still lost 77-70. Lynn Kidd topped the team on a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

- Miami (FL) has lost the first half in each of its last three games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
Miami vs Charleston Southern Prediction
I’ll lean toward Miami. This is a good opportunity for the Hurricanes to stop their losing streak with a blowout performance, but they’ve got to shoot better than they did against VCU. In that defeat, Miami posted just 40 percent from the floor and 6-of-23 (26.1 percent) from 3-point range. The Hurricanes gave up 50.9 percent shooting on the other side, resulting in their second-lowest points total of the season (besides the 69 versus Drake).
As for Charleston Southern, they hit just 30.4 percent from the field in their last outing versus Georgia Tech and allowed 52.8 percent on the other side. The Buccaneers haven’t been able to hit the 70-point mark in any of the last four games, and they’ve given up 77 or more points in three of those. Miami should have plenty of open looks here, and I like the Canes to roll.
