The Lafayette Leopards and Miami Hurricanes meet Monday in college basketball action at the Watsco Center. The Lafayette Leopards are coming off a 10-win season. The Miami Hurricanes are coming off a 26-win season and regional final trip.

The Lafayette Leopards have won a combined 19 games the last 2 seasons. Kyle Jenkins returns after averaging 10.5 points and 5.9 rebounds, while Leo O’Boyle averaged 9.9 points and 1.4 assists. Jon Brantley played in 462 minutes last season, and CJ Fulton averaged 3.9 rebounds. Lafayette says goodbye to its two best players in Neal Quinn and Ty Perry, but the Leopards return their next top-five scorers from last season when you throw in Devin Hines. The Lafayette Leopards have a chance to have a better season last year with the returning production and experience.

The Miami Hurricanes enter the 12th season under coach Jim Larrañaga. Isaiah Wong returns after averaging 15.3 points and 4.3 rebounds, while Jordan Miller averaged 10 points and 1.1 assists. Wooga Poplar played in 292 minutes last season, and Anthony Walker averaged 2.5 rebounds. Miami lost a couple of key guys from last year, including Kameron McGusty, but there’s enough here to be a serious ACC contender. Miami also added Sun Belt Player of the Year in Norchad Omier and a first-team All-Big 12 selection in Nijel Pack. The Miami Hurricanes are a dark horse to make the final four this season with the firepower on this roster.

The Leopards are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 Monday games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Hurricanes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Monday games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The under is 11-3 in Leopards last 14 road games. The under is 4-0 in Hurricanes last 4 overall.

The Lafayette Leopards have the returning production and experience to put up a fight here, but I need to see them step up against quality competition before I can back them with confidence. The Miami Hurricanes are as talented as they were last year, with the recruits and transfers coming in. Miami has deep tournament run written all over it. I’ll lay the chalk.
