Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State managed a 10-6 run over their first 16 outings this year. The losses came to San Diego State, Duke, North Carolina, Purdue, Maryland and Minnesota. The Buckeyes are just 1-5 since then with a lone win over Iowa during that time.
On Thursday versus Wisconsin, Ohio State was drilled 43-27 in the first half. The Buckeyes got better from there on a 33-22 second-half run but couldn’t catch up in a 65-60 loss. Brice Sensabaugh was the team’s top scorer on 13 points.
Michigan Wolverines
Over on the Michigan side, they were a spotty 9-7 through 16 games this year. The Wolverines have since gone 3-3, losing to Maryland, Purdue and Penn State with wins over Northwestern, Minnesota and Northwestern again otherwise.
In the Northwestern rematch on Thursday, Michigan carried a slim one-point lead into the second half. The Wolverines hit a 42-26 run from there and won it 68-51. Hunter Dickinson had 19 points and Kobe Bufkin doubled on 15 points and 12 boards.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably stick with Michigan in this one. The Wolverines took a pretty nice road win over Northwestern in their last outing, which stopped the bleeding from consecutive losses. Michigan has been a mixed bag scoring-wise lately with 61 or fewer points in three of the last six games. They’ll need to get off to a quick start here. As for Ohio State, they’ve scored exactly 60 points in three of their last five games, going 1-4 in that time. This one could go a lot of different ways, but all things considered I’m still leaning Michigan cover/win-wise as the stronger squad at home.
