Michigan Wolverines Team Preview
The Michigan Wolverines finished the regular season at 17-15 overall, including an 11-9 mark in Big Ten Conference play. Michigan was quickly dispatched by Rutgers in the second round, ending their chances at an NCAA tournament bid. Hunter Dickinson leads the Wolverines in scoring and rebounding with 18.4 PPG and 9 RPG while Jett Howard has 14.2 PPG and Kobe Bufkin has 13.7 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Michigan so far this season. As a team, Michigan is averaging 73.1 PPG on 44.7% shooting from the field, 34.6% from three and 70.3% from the foul line this season.
Toledo Rockets Team Preview
The Toledo Rockets come into the tournament here after going 27-7 in the regular season including a 16-2 mark in MAC conference play to win the regular season MAC championship. Toledo took out Miami-Ohio and Ohio on their way to the title game where they lost to Kent State, 93-78. RayJ Dennis leads the Rockets in scoring and assists with 19.7 PPG and 5.8 APG while Setric Millner Jr. has 16 PPG with a team-high 6 RPG to lead Toledo on the glass. JT Shumate also has 16 PPG while Dante Maddox Jr. has 11.5 PPG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Toledo so far this season. As a team, Toledo is averaging 85.6 PPG on 49.6% shooting from the field, 39.7% from three and 77.3% from the foul line this season.
Michigan is 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 home games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 home games. Toledo is 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games.
I’m sticking with Toledo here. I just trust the Rockets offensively to be able to outscore Michigan. And the Wolverines were inconsistent to put it nicely over the course of the season in terms of scoring. The Wolverines also lost to a MAC Team earlier this season when Central Michigan won as 23-point underdogs. I’ll take a shot with Toledo and the points here.
