Bradley started the year at 3-1 overall with wins over UW-Parkside, Eastern Michigan and Southeast Missouri State. After losses to Auburn and Liberty in the next two games, the Braves picked up a win over Merrimack.
In the Northern Iowa game on Wednesday, the Braves were down 30-29 by halftime. Bradley outscored the Panthers 39-23 from there in a 68-53 win. Duke Deen led the team on 18 points, and Rienk Mast doubled with 13 points and 11 boards.
Over on the Missouri State side, they went 2-2 over their first four with wins over Missouri S&T and Middle Tennessee alongside losses to UNCW and BYU. Missouri State sot to Ball State then won versus Oakland.
Matched up against UIC on Wednesday, the Bears took a 32-26 edge into the break. The Bears scored 34 more points from there in a 66-51 win. Donovan Clay led the way on 17 points and nine rebounds. Jonathan Mogbo added 10 rebounds and nine points.
PICK: I’ll probably stick with Bradley here. The Braves are coming off a pretty decent win over a struggling Northern Iowa team despite a slow first half. Bradley has a few scoring duds this year but overall they’re putting up points at a pretty good clip. The Braves have 68 or more points in five of their eight outings.
As for Missouri State, they should provide a solid matchup in this one. The Bears have kept comparable offenses contained fairly well so far this season, so it’ll be interesting to see what they can do versus Bradley. I don’t think Missouri State will end up covering, but it should be a competitive game.
