The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Missouri Tigers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Mizzou Arena. Alabama is 11-3 on the season so far. The Tide beat Florida in their last game. Alabama won four straight games out of the gate this year before an upset loss to Iona. Four more straight wins came after that, then a loss to Memphis. The Tide are 3-1 since then with victories versus Jacksonville State, Tennessee and Florida.
Matched up against Florida on Wednesday, the Tide trailed 39-36 going into halftime. Alabama put up a 47-31 run from there for the 83-70 win. Leading scorers Juwan Gary and Jahvon Quinerly each scored 19 points, combining for 13 rebounds as well.
Over on the Missouri side, they opened the year on a 5-4 run with victories over Central Michigan, NIU, SMU, Paul Quinn and Eastern Illinois. The Tigers have gone just 1-3 since then with losses to Kansas, Illinois and Kentucky.
In the Kentucky game back on December 29, the Tigers were down 44-27 at halftime. Missouri fell even further behind from there in an 83-56 blowout loss. Leading scorers Jarron Coleman and Amari Davis each posted 10 points in the defeat.
The over is 6-0 in the Tigers’ last six Saturday games and they’re 4-12 ATS in their last 16 overall. Missouri is 1-6 ATS in their last seven as an underdog.
Meanwhile, the Tide are 1-5 ATS in their last six overall and the over is 7-2 in their last nine overall. The over is 4-0 in Alabama’s last four road games.
PICK: I’m probably staying with Alabama here. The Tide are coming off a nice game versus Florida, with 40.3 percent shooting from the floor, 40 rebounds and 16 team assists. Alabama has had a good scoring run lately with 73 or more points in each of their last three games.
As for Missouri, they shot just 32.8 percent against a good Kentucky team in their last game and have been at 65 points or fewer in three of their last four outings. I don’t see the Tigers finding too many opportunities for a cover in this one.
