The Manhattan Jaspers will travel to the OceanFirst Bank Center to take on the Monmouth Hawks this Sunday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Manhattan Jaspers improved to 10-5 on the season after defeating the Siena Saints, 75-68, this past Friday. Manhattan led by a 31-29 margin at halftime and was able to pull away for the victory in the 2nd half after taking a 71-62 lead with 2:35 left in regulation. Manhattan shot 49.1% from the field & 17.6% from beyond the arc while allowing Siena to shoot 42.4% from the field & 41.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Jaspers was Jose Perez who had 32 points, 6 rebounds, & 6 assists.

On the season, Manhattan is averaging 74.3 ppg on 46.4% shooting from the field. The Jaspers are averaging 5.3 three-pointers per game on 31.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Manhattan has been led by Jose Perez (17.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.2 apg), Ant Nelson (11.3 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.7 spg), Warren Williams (10.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg), & Elijah Buchanan (7.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.6 spg).

Defensively, Manhattan is allowing their opponents to average 71.7 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field.

The Monmouth Hawks snapped their 4-game losing streak and improved to 11-6 on the season after defeating the Fairfield Stags, 61-58, this past Thursday. Monmouth was solid on the offensive end against Fairfield and was able to hold off the Stags for the victory after taking a 57-50 lead with 3:48 left in regulation. Monmouth shot 49.0% from the field & 35.3% from beyond the arc while allowing Fairfield to shoot 42.6% from the field & 41.7% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Hawks was George Papas who had 16 points, 5 rebounds, & 4 assists.

On the season, Monmouth is averaging 70.7 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Hawks are averaging 6.2 three-pointers per game on 33.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Monmouth has been led by George Papas (15.9 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.2 spg), Shavar Reynolds (15.1 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.2 apg), Walker Miller (14.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg), & Marcus McClary (9.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.3 apg).

Defensively, Monmouth is allowing their opponents to an average of 68.5 ppg on 39.8% shooting from the field.

The Jaspers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games, however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. Monmouth. The Hawks are 14-3 ATS in their last 17 games & 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games.

Monmouth is the better team here, however, this is still a team that lost recently by 36 points at Marist and come into this game with just a 3-2 record at home. Manhattan has been able to put up some solid offensive numbers behind Jose Perez and although I don’t think the Jaspers pull out a win here, I think they can do enough with the double-digit points to get us a cover. Good Luck!
