The Lumberjacks won just five of their first 16 games this year over Benedictine Mesa, UCSB, Ottawa AZ, Pacific and Montana. Northern Arizona hit a five-game losing streak after that, then beat Northern Colorado last weekend.
Back on Saturday versus Northern Colorado, the Lumberjacks were up 42-23 at halftime. Northern Arizona was outscored 50-41 in the second but held on for the 83-73 win. Xavier Fuller was tops in scoring with 25 points and five rebounds.
Montana State Bobcats
Over on the Montana State side, they lost to Grand Canyon, Oregon, UNCG, Quinnipiac, Middle Tennessee, Arizona and Eastern WA in their first 16 games. The Bobcats are 6-1 in their last seven outings with a lone loss to Idaho in that time.
In their Saturday matchup versus Sacramento State, the Bobcats managed a 37-27 lead by halftime. Montana State scored another 35 points in the second for a 72-65 win. RaeQuan Battle was tops on the team with 32 points and three rebounds.

I’ll stay with Montana State in this one. The Bobcats are on a nice 7-1 run over the last eight games, scoring 67 or more points in each of those outings. Montana State managed a 69-54 win the last time these teams met up back on January 7 at Findlay Toyota Center. The Bobcats scored 40 points in the fist half and cruised the rest of the way in that one. As for Northern Arizona, they’ve scored 74 or more points in four of their last five outings, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them come along for the ride here. I don’t think the Lumberjacks will power out the cover, though.
