Montana vs Northern Arizona 2/10/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks and the Montana Grizzlies meet Thursday in college basketball action from Dahlberg Arena. Northern Arizona sits at 8-15 so far. The Lumberjacks lost to Northern Colorado in their last game. As for Montana, they’re currently 16-8 and fresh off a win over Southern Utah. Northern Arizona started out this season on a 3-2 clip but they’ve only won consecutive games once since then. The Lumberjacks are 1-4 in their last five games, losing to Portland State, Southern Utah and Northern Colorado (twice) in that time. 

Matched up against Northern Colorado on Monday, the Lumberjacks were outscored 34-42 in the first half and 26-40 from there in a rough 82-60 loss. Leading scorer Jalen Cone finished with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists. 

Over on the Montana side, they’ve remained pretty consistent this year and haven’t lost more than two straight games yet. Since their last pair of losses to Weber State and Idaho State, the Grizzlies have bounced back with a win over Southern Utah. 

Back on Monday versus Southern Utah, the Grizzlies had a slim one-point lead by the break. Montana hit a 48-38 run in the second on the way to a 78-67 victory. Tops in scoring was Josh Bannan on 26 points, eight rebounds and one assist. 

The Grizzlies are 7-2 ATS in their last nine at home and 3-14 ATS in their last 17 after an ATS win. Montana is 7-1 ATS in their last eight Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks are 5-1 ATS in their last six Thursday games and the under is 4-0 in their last four overall. The under is 4-0 in Northern Arizona’s last four road games. 

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Montana here. The Grizzlies have had a couple of duds over their last half-dozen games, but overall they’re playing fairly well. Montana took a 58-48 win the last time these teams met up back on January 22. It’s probably going to take more offense to secure a cover in this one, but I think Montana is up to the task. Northern Arizona has been at 66 points or fewer in three of their last four games and I don’t see them keeping the pace in this one.
