Morgan State vs Coppin State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 3/2/23

Coppin State managed a 6-16 run over their first 22 games in a rough start to the year. The Eagles have since gone 2-6 with losses to MD Eastern Shore, Delaware State, South Carolina State, North Carolina Central, Howard and MD Eastern Shore. 

In the Monday matchup versus Delaware State, the Eagles were up 37-28 by the half. Coppin State hit another 45 points in the second and took the win 82-72. Leading team scorer Mike Hood put up 24 points with three rebounds. 

Morgan State Bears

Over on the Morgan State side, they posted a .500 clip over their first 22 games, going 11-11 overall. The Bears are 4-3 in the last seven outings, beating Delaware State, Howard, Delaware State again and MD Eastern Shore in that time. 

In the MD Eastern Shore matchup on Monday, the Bears took a 39-35 halftime edge. Morgan State posted a 29-26 run in the second half and powered out the win 68-61. Will Thomas led the team with his 23 points and six rebounds.

I’m going to stay with Morgan State in this one. Granted, neither team has been all that impressive lately but this should be a competitive matchup. The Bears didn’t have much trouble at all during the first meeting between these teams this season back on January 14. Morgan State posted an 83-66 road win in that one after jumping ahead 45-36 by halftime. The Bears have won three straight (following a three-game losing streak), scoring 68 or more points in all three. I like Morgan State to keep it going here.
