Robert Morris went just 2-5 to start out the season, taking wins over only Pitt-Greensburg and WV Wesleyan. The Colonials have gone 2-2 since then with wins over Wright State and Central Michigan.
In last weekend’s matchup versus Marshall, the Colonials were outpaced 30-16 in the first half. Robert Morris made a game of it from there but still lost 69-60. Stephaun Walker posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Over on the Mount St. Mary’s side, they’ve taken losses to West Virginia, Coppin State, USC, Navy, Rider and American this year. The wins otherwise have come versus McDaniel, Cal Poly, Pacific, Saint Peter’s and Loyola MD.
In the Loyola MD matchup last Saturday, the Mountaineers had a 24-10 edge by the break. Mount St. Mary’s scored another 27 points in the second half and took the win 51-34. Both Xavier Lipscomb and Jedy Cordilla posted 12 points apiece.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Mount St. Mary’s. Probably not going near this one, though. The Mountaineers haven’t exactly been lighting up the scoreboards this year; they’ve hit 70 points in only four games so far. That said, Mount St. Mary’s has been pretty effective on defense during comparable matchups. As for Robert Morris, they’ve been a mixed bag at best. If they play well, the Colonials should provide an interesting challenge in this one, however.
