The Sacred Heart Pioneers and the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers meet Friday in college basketball action from Knott Arena. Sacred Heart enters this one at 7-10 overall. The Pioneers are coming off a win over Central CT State. As for Mount St. Mary’s, they’re 6-10 on the season and beat Merrimack in their last outing. Sacred Heart stumbled to a 5-10 start over their first 15 games. The Pioneers beat La Salle, Fisher, Lafayette, Columbia and LIU in that stretch. The Pioneers have since won consecutive games over Fairleigh Dickinson and Central Connecticut State.
In the Central CT matchup, the Pioneers went into the break with a 31-22 lead. Sacred Heart was able to hold on for the 74-66 win. Topping the team was Tyler Thomas with 21 points, and Bryce Johnson adds nine points with 13 boards.

PICK: I’m going to try Sacred Heart. Granted, there’s not a ton of intrigue here due to these teams’ records, but it should be a competitive matchup nonetheless. The Pioneers have been scoring well over their last five games, with 69 or more points in each. As for Mount St. Mary’s, they’ve been below 70 in each of their last four games. If Sacred Heart can get their offense rolling early, I think they’ll be fine on a cover.
