The Aces lost to Belmont in their last game. As for Murray State, they’re sitting at 14-13 following a win over Illinois State on Wednesday. Evansville Purple Aces
The Purple Aces had a rough start to the season and went just 4-16 over their first 20 games. Since then Evansville is 1-7 with losses to Drake, Belmont, Valparaiso, Indiana State, UIC, Missouri State and Belmont again with a lone win over Northern Iowa.
On Wednesday versus Belmont, the Aces were drilled 46-28 in the first half. Evansville didn’t get any closer on a 49-35 deficit from there and lost big 95-63. Leading scorer Marvin Coleman put up 15 points with five rebounds and four assists.
Murray State Racers
Over on the Murray State side, they posted an 11-9 run over their first 20 outings of the year. The Racers have gone 3-4 in their last seven games with losses to Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Drake and Bradley alongside wins over Missouri State, Belmont and Illinois State.
In the matchup versus the Redbirds this week, the Racers were up 40-35 in the locker room. Murray State hit a 40-36 deficit from there but still won 76-75. Rob Perry was tops in scoring with 25 points and six rebounds in the victory.

I’ll probably stick with Murray State here. Granted, there’s not a lot to get excited about in this one and it’s a pretty thick line. The last time these teams met up on New Year’s Day, Murray State powered out a 78-61 road win at Ford Center. The Racers haven’t played well during this current 1-3 stretch; they’ve been at 56 points or below in two of those four outings. That said, Evansville should be firmly within the Racers’ wheelhouse, so home matchup shouldn’t provide too much difficulty. I’m probably staying away from this one in reality, though.
