Murray State vs Indiana State Prediction Basketball Picks 1-21-24

The Indiana State Sycamores and the Murray State Racers meet Sunday in college basketball action from CFSB Center. Indiana State is 15-3 this year in the MVC standings after a win over Missouri State on Tuesday. As for Murray State, they’re coming off a win over UIC that improved the Racers to 8-10 overall. Indiana State Sycamores

The Sycamores only lost one of their first 12 games this year, falling to Alabama in their second outing. Indiana State is 4-2 in their last six with losses to Michigan State and Drake alongside a quartet of wins over Evansville, Northern Iowa, Belmont and Missouri State.

Matched up against Missouri State on Tuesday, the Sycamores were up 44-30 in the locker room. Indiana State kept it going with a 44-36 second-half run and cruised to the win 88-66. Leading the way was Ryan Conwell with 25 points, five boards and three assists.

Murray State Racers

Over on the Murray State side, they were only able to beat Midway, Tennessee Tech and Bradley in their first 12 games this year. The Racers are a nice 5-1 since then though, taking out Middle Tennessee, UIC, Evansville, Missouri State and UIC again (with a loss to Northern Iowa) in that stretch.

In the rematch versus UIC on Wednesday, the Racers held a modest 33-31 edge going into the second half. Murray State surged on a 40-27 run from there and took the win 73-53. Nick Ellington was the high man in that one with 29 points, seven rebounds and two steals.

ANDREW’S FREE INDIANA STATE PREDICTION

I’ll stick with Indiana State. The Sycamores are playing some pretty great basketball this year and they had little trouble with Missouri State in their last game. Indiana State hit 55.6 percent of their shots in that one with 34 rebounds, 15 assists and just six turnovers. The offense is working great this year; the Sycamores have hit 75 or more points in all 18 games so far.

As for Murray State, they’re playing much better over their last six games with 73 or more points in five of those. The Racers are likely going to have to hit that mark in order to keep the cover pace here, but ultimately I don’t think they’ll have the gas to keep up with a hot-shooting Sycamores team.
