The Holy Cross Crusaders and the Navy Midshipmen meet Saturday in college basketball action from Navy Alumni Hall. Holy Cross sits at 8-18 on the year. The Crusaders lost to Boston U in their last game. As for Navy, they’re currently 18-8 and fresh off a win over American. Holy Cross went just 3-15 overall in their first 18 games this year, a stretch which included a pause from January 10 to January 22. The Crusaders are 5-3 since then, however. The losses in that time have come to Colgate, American and Boston U.

In the Boston U matchup back on Wednesday, the Crusaders were outscored 34-41 in the first half and 31-37 from there in a 78-65 defeat. Leading Holy Cross scorer Kyrell Luc put up 16 points with three rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Over on the Navy side, they had a rough 1-3 stretch back in January but outside of that the team has been highly consistent this year. The Midshipmen are on a four-game win streak over Loyola MD, Lafayette, Army and American right now.

On Wednesday versus American, Navy posted a 22-14 advantage in the first half. The Midshipmen were able to hang on for the 55-46 win from there. Navy’s Tyler Nelson finished on 14 points with eight boards and one assist.

The Midshipmen are 1-4 ATS in their last five at home and 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. Navy is 0-4 ATS in their last four Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Crusaders are 2-6 ATS in the last eight Saturday games and the over is 5-2 in their last seven road games. The over is 3-1-1 in Holy Cross’ last five overall.

PICK: I’m staying with Navy here. The Midshipmen haven’t been overly glamorous on the scoreboard lately; they’ve hit 68 points or fewer in each of the last six games, and 56 or fewer in four of those. That said, Navy is getting it done on the defensive side and for their opponents points are at a premium. Holy Cross isn’t exactly an offensive dynamo themselves, so I don’t think the Midshipmen will have too many issues controlling this one.
