The Loyola (MD) Greyhounds will travel to Alumni Hall (Navy) to take on the Navy Midshipmen this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The Loyola (MD) Greyhounds snapped a 4-game losing streak and improved to 14-13 on the season after defeating the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 69-42, this past Sunday. Loyola (MD) was outstanding defensively against Lehigh and had no trouble pulling away for the victory after going into halftime with a 34-21 lead. Loyola (MD) shot 50.9% from the field & 45.0% from beyond the arc while holding Lehigh to just 29.8% shooting from the field & 21.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Greyhounds was Cam Spencer who had 23 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, & 4 steals.

On the season, Loyola (MD) is averaging 67.2 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Greyhounds are averaging 7.1 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Loyola (MD) has been led by Cam Spencer (18.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.4 apg, 2.3 spg), Jaylin Andrews (14.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.7 spg), Kenneth Jones (8.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.7 apg, 1.5 spg).

Defensively, Loyola (MD) is holding their opponents to an average of 65.8 ppg on 43.4% shooting from the field. The Greyhounds have a rebound margin of -0.4 and a turnover margin of 1.4.

The Navy Midshipmen had their 4-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 18-9 on the season after being defeated by the Holy Cross Crusaders, 55-50, this past Saturday. Navy fought back from a 45-30 2nd half deficit to tie game at 50-all with 1:22 left in regulation, however, the Midshipmen offense struggled down the stretch and Holy Cross was able to pull away after a pair of FT’s by Bo Montgomery gave the Crusaders a 54-50 lead with :08 seconds left in regulation. Navy shot just 26.6% from the field & 15.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Holy Cross to shoot 38.9% from the field & 40.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Midshipmen was Tyler Nelson who had 15 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, & 2 steals.

On the season, Navy is averaging 64.6 ppg on 43.2% shooting from the field. The Midshipmen are averaging 5.7 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Navy has been led by John Carter Jr. (12.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.0 spg), Greg Summers (9.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.1 spg), Tyler Nelson (9.0 ppg, 4.6 rpg), & Daniel Deaver (7.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg). Greg Summers is questionable with a foot injury he suffered in Navy’s last game.

Defensively, Navy is holding their opponents to an average of 58.6 ppg on 40.4% shooting from the field. The Midshipmen have a rebound margin of 5.6 and a turnover margin of 1.3.

The Greyhounds are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, however, are just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Midshipmen are 14-12 ATS overall on the season, however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games.

Navy has been led by their defense this season which ranks 6th in scoring defense & 38th in defensive FG%, however, the Midshipmen have really struggled on the offensive end as they currently rank just 315th in scoring offense. Loyola (MD) is just 3-9 on the road and lost to Navy at home by a 56-55 margin recently, however, between the fact that Navy could be without one of their top players in Greg Summers and that the Greyhounds defense, which ranks 79th in scoring defense & 92nd in turnover margin, should be able to keep this one close, I think the play here is to take the Greyhounds and the points. Good Luck!
