The Bucknell Bison and the NC State Wolfpack meet Tuesday in college basketball action from PNC Arena. Bucknell managed to go 5-7 overall last year, finishing second of three in a revamped Central Division. As for the Wolfpack, they went 14-11 overall a year ago and made it to the Quarterfinals of the NIT. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Bucknell managed to play a dozen games during last year’s strange campaign, going 5-7 overall and 4-6 in Patriot League play. That result left the Bison sandwiched between Lafayette (9-5) and Lehigh (4-10) among the Central Division teams.
The Bison kicked off the year with an 0-4 run, but then turned it around to win four straight and get back to .500 ball. Bucknell would then lose their final two regular-season games before beating Lafayette in the conference tournament. The Bison ultimately lost 105-75 to Colgate in the Semifinal Round.
Over on the NC State side, they put up a 14-11 overall record in 2020-21 and a 9-8 mark among the Atlantic Coast Conference. That result left the Wolfpack in ninth place amid a crowded field of powerhouses like Virginia, Florida State and Virginia Tech.
NC State lost in the Second Round of the ACC Tournament 89-68 to Syracuse, but did earn an invite to compete in the NIT. The Wolfpack beat Davidson 75-61 in the First Round of that tourney, then fell to Colorado State 65-61 on March 25 to end their season.
The Bison are 0-6 ATS in their last six Tuesday games and the over is 6-0 in their last six overall. The over is 4-0 in Bucknell’s last four road games.
Meanwhile, the Wolfpack are 2-6-1 ATS in the last nine on Tuesday and 0-6-1 ATS in their last seven at home. The over is 6-1 in NC State’s last seven Tuesday games.
PICK: I’m probably going to go with NC State. Experience-wise, it’s looking pretty good for the Wolfpack. They’ve got four players with starting experience back in the fold, and nine total returning players. It’s going to be a fight, though; head coach Kevin Keatts has put up a solid 79-47 record through four seasons, but the ACC record (39-34) has to get better. That said, I like the Wolfpack to improve on their record from last year and once again knock on the door of the NCAA Tournament.
