The Furman Paladins and the NC State Wolfpack meet Tuesday in college basketball action from PNC Arena. Furman enters this one at 7-3 overall. The Paladins are fresh off a win over Winthrop. As for NC State, they’re sitting at 8-3 after a loss to Miami-FL in their last outing. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Furman went a sketchy 2-2 over their first four games this year, falling to Penn State and Old Dominion. The Paladins have gone 5-1 since then with victories over South Carolina, Tusculum, App State, SC State and Winthrop.

In the Winthrop matchup back on Saturday, Furman took a 41-39 edge into halftime. The Paladins scored another 41 points in the second for an 82-67 win. Jalen Slawson was the top scorer on the team with 25 points and five boards.

Over on the NC State side, they won their first four games of the season before a loss to Kansas on November 23. The Wolfpack have hit a 4-2 run over the last six with victories over Dayton, Butler, William & Mary and Coppin State.

Matched up against Miami-FL on Saturday, the Wolfpack went into the locker room with a 43-34 edge. NC State was outscored 46-30 from there and lost 80-73. Jarkel Joiner topped the team with his 26 points and four boards.

PICK: I’ll probably take a stab on Furman here. The Paladins have a couple of rough losses on the card so far this year but overall they’ve done pretty well. Furman has scored 82 or more points in three straight games and they’ve got a good offense against comparable teams. As for NC State, they’re coming off a bad second half in a tough loss to Miami—a game the Wolfpack probably should have won. NC State has hit 73 or more points in all but one game so far this year so they should be able to bounce back in this one. It’ll be an interesting matchup, and I think Furman can get in there.
