The Denver Pioneers and Omaha Mavericks meet Monday in the college basketball Summit League Tournament Semifinals at the Pensacola Bay Center. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Denver vs. Omaha Prediction.

Denver Team Preview

The Denver Pioneers come into the semifinals fresh off of a 61-60 upset win over UMKC last time out. Tommy Bruner leads the Pioneers in scoring and assists with 24.3 PPG and 4.3 APG this season. Touko Tainamo has 15.8 PPG with a team-high 7.8 RPG to lead the Pioneers and Jaxon Brenchley has 10.9 PPG with 5.5 RPG and 2.9 APG of his own as well to round out the scoring in double figures for the Pioneers this season. As a team, Denver is averaging 81.9 PPG on 45.4% shooting from the field, 35% from three and 73.9% from the foul line this season.

Omaha Team Preview

The Omaha Mavericks come into the semis after picking up a 73-72 win over North Dakota last time out. Frankie Fidler leads the Mavericks in scoring with 19.5 PPG along with 6.1 RPG and 2.7 APG while Marquel Sutton has 12.4 PPG with a team-high 6.3 RPG to lead the Mavericks on the glass as the only other double-digit scorer this season. Nick Davis has 9 PPG with 5.3 RPG while JJ White has 8.7 PPG and a team-high 2.9 APG as well on the year. As a team, Omaha is averaging 74.4 PPG on 45.1% shooting from the field, 33.1% from three and 74.7% from the foul line this season.

Denver vs. Omaha Prediction

I’m on the over here. These are two high-variance teams because neither play any sort of defense whatsoever and even though Denver was in a low-scoring game against UMKC, that was more about UMKC dictating the pace of play and the Pioneers getting the stops they needed to win. The two meetings this season saw 163 and 175 points and I think even in a high-pressure spot like this with a spot in the conference championship on the line, I think Omaha and Denver find a way to score enough to go over this huge number. Give me the over.
