Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State managed a 13-7 run through their first 20 games of the year. The Spartans have since gone 4-4 with wins over Iowa, Maryland, Ohio State and Indiana. The losses otherwise came versus Purdue, Rutgers, Michigan and Iowa. 

Matched up against Iowa on Saturday, Michigan State scored 42 points in the first half, 59 in the second and five in overtime during a 112-106 loss. Tyson Walker led the team with 31 points, and Jaden Akins added 21 points. 

Nebraska Cornhuskers

Nebraska logged a 10-12 stretch across their first 22 outings. The Cornhuskers are 5-2 in their last seven games with wins over Penn State, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Maryland and Minnesota. The losses came to Illinois and Michigan otherwise. 

Back on Saturday versus Minnesota, Nebraska went into the second half with a 37-27 edge. The Cornhuskers posted a 41-40 advantage from there and won 78-67. Sam Griesel was the team’s top scorer with 19 points and four rebounds.

I’ll stick with Nebraska in this one. The Cornhuskers are looking pretty good lately; they’ve hit four straight wins and scored 70 or more points in each of those. Nebraska didn’t play very well the last time these teams met up back on January 3 at Breslin Center. The Cornhuskers were down 39-17 at the break and ended up with a limp 74-56 defeat. Michigan State is just 1-2 in the last three but they’re still scoring quite well and are a dangerous team. I like a competitive affair in this rematch with a close Nebraska cover in the end. Should be a fun one to watch.
