The Weber State Wildcats and the Nevada Wolf Pack meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Lawlor Events Center. Weber State beat Cal Poly in their last matchup, moving the Wildcats to 5-3 overall. As for Nevada, they’re coming off their first loss of the year to Drake back on Saturday. Let’s get into our Weber State vs. Nevada prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Weber State Wildcats

The Wildcats posted a sketchy 4-3 run over their first seven games this year, beating Benedictine AZ, Saint Mary’s, Yale and Navajo Tech along the way. The losses in that time came versus Gardner-Webb, Colgate and Utah Valley. In the loss to the Wolverines, Weber State shot a tepid 35.6 percent overall.

The Wildcats managed a victory in their last game versus Cal Poly. This one was pretty routine, as Weber State boasted a 42-22 halftime edge on the way to a 78-50 blowout win. Leading the scoring was Dyson Koehler with 17 points, two rebounds and five steals in the victory effort.

Nevada Wolf Pack

Over on the Nevada side, they jumped out to a nice 7-0 run to start the season. The Wolf Pack took out Sacramento State, Washington, Pacific, Portland, Montana, Loyola Marymount and UC Davis in that stretch. In the 80-68 result versus the Aggies, Nevada bagged a 36-31 rebounding advantage.

The Wolf Pack hit the wall in their last game against a talented Drake team, taking their first loss of the year. Nevada was outscored 28-19 in the first half and limped to a 72-53 finish. Both Jarod Lucas and Tyler Rolison (bench) scored 10 points apiece to lead the team along the way. Nevada is 7-1 in the Mountain West, where Colorado State, Utah State, and New Mexico are at the top with 9-1 records. On the other hand, UNLV is at the bottom with a 3-4 record and is the only team in the conference with below .500.

ANDREW’S FREE WEBER STATE VS NEVADA PREDICTION

I’m going to stay with Nevada. The Wolf Pack need a good bounce-back effort after their flat performance against Drake, though. In that matchup Nevada shot a limp 37.3 percent from the field with 24 percent (6-of-25) from 3-point range and 50 percent (9-of-18) from the line. The 19 turnovers didn’t help either. All of that said, the Wolf Pack should be in control Wednesday.

As for Weber State, I think they can hang around for most of this game if they’re playing well. The Wildcats are coming off a pretty decent performance versus Cal Poly, but this will be a significant uptick in competition.
