The Maine Black Bears and the New Hampshire Wildcats meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Lundholm Gym. Maine is 3-10 this year so far and lost to Stony Brook in their last game. As for New Hampshire, they’re sitting at 6-5. The Wildcats beat Albany in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Maine won three of their first four games this year, then hit a losing streak versus Central CT State, Bradley, Columbia and Quinnipiac. Next came a 1-4 stretch with losses to Merrimack, Rutgers, NJIT and Stony Brook.

In the Stony Brook game back on January 8, the Bears limped to a 43-28 deficit at the break. Maine ended up falling 80-72. Leading scorer Sam Ihekwoaba finished with 22 points and nine boards. Ja’Shonte Wright-Mcleish added 15 points as well.

Over on the New Hampshire side, they went 4-4 to start the season. The Wildcats lost to Marquette, Providence, Bryant and Duquesne in that time. Since then New Hampshire is 2-1 with wins over Keene State and Albany.

In the Albany matchup, the Wildcats were up 38-28 at the break and held on for the 64-62 win. Nick Guadarrama led the way on 32 points, and Nick Johnson added 14 points with five rebounds and three assists.

New Hampshire is 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss and 1-4-1 ATS in the last six Wednesday games. The under is 5-1 in the Wildcats’ last six overall.

Meanwhile, the Bears are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last four overall. Maine is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win.

PICK: I’m probably going to try New Hampshire here but not going near it. The Wildcats haven’t been scoring all that well lately; they’ve hit more than 68 points in just one of their last six outings. That said, this could very well be a lower-scoring game anyway; Maine has been at 66 points of fewer in three of their last four. New Hampshire makes more sense to me on a cover but this one’s probably not worth messing with.
