The Saint Peter’s Peacocks and the Niagara Purple Eagles meet Friday in college basketball action from Gallagher Center. Here’s a Niagara vs Saint Peter’s prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Niagara vs Saint Peter’s pick.
Saint Peter’s Peacocks Betting Preview
The Peacocks have played in a relatively small amount of games so far: just 11 total. Saint Peter’s has failed to maintain a .500 record through those outings as well. The Peacocks kicked things off this year with three straight losses, falling to Seton Hall, UMass Lowell, and Rutgers. Four straight wins followed as Saint Peter’s took out UMBC, Saint Elizabeth, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Duquesne in that quartet. Since then, however, it’s been another rough run as the Peacocks have lost three of four. The lone win in that time came versus Delaware. Otherwise, it was losses to Manhattan, Iona, and Quinnipiac for a 5-6 overall record so far this year.
In the Quinnipiac game last Friday, the Peacocks came out of the break looking at a 41-24 deficit on the scoreboard. Saint Peter’s got slightly better from there but still had issues scoring. The Peacocks closed on a 22-18 run for a 59-46 loss in the end. Leading the team in scoring—and the only player on the team to finish in double-figures for the game—was Bryce Eaton with 10 points, one rebound, and one assist in 16 minutes of work. Adetokunbo Bakare came off the bench to chip in seven points with five rebounds, and Marcus Randolph added seven points with four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 34 minutes.
Niagara Purple Eagles Betting Preview
Over on the Niagara side, they’ve played a few more games than the Peacocks this year, however, the Eagles haven’t been able to stay above the .500 mark so far either. Niagara beat Houghton in their opener, then fell into a hole with losses to Michigan State, Detroit, Bowling Green, and Kent State over the next four. Niagara would hit a pretty solid 3-1 run in the next quartet, with a loss to Lafayette among wins over Binghamton, Long Island University, and Siena. Since then it’s been a 2-3 stretch with losses to Merrimack, St. Bonaventure, and Le Moyne around wins versus St. Francis PA and Le Moyne during that time.
In their Sunday game versus Mount St. Mary’s, the Purple Eagles were in good shape at halftime with a 37-26 edge. Niagara was blitzed in the second half however, falling behind on a 42-25 run for an eventual loss of 68-62. Leading the team in scoring during the losing effort was Jahari Williamson with 15 points and one rebound off the bench. Zion Russell added 14 points and three rebounds as the team’s leading starter, while Justice Smith posted 13 points, three rebounds, and three assists in 22 minutes off the bench.

Niagara vs Saint Peter’s Prediction
I’m going to stay with Niagara here. There’s not a lot to get excited about here, though. Still, we should have a pretty competitive matchup regardless. That said, the Eagles had a great first half in their latest loss to Mount St. Mary’s but hit the skids after the break. Niagara ended up with a 37-27 rebounding edge but also shot just 39.1 percent from the field alongside a whopping 19 turnovers for 20 Mountaineers points. The Eagles aren’t the greatest scoring team in the world this year; they’ve been below 70 points in eight of the last nine games (a 5-4 run) and have to rely on defense and pace control in order to stay competitive.
As for Saint Peter’s, they shot a dismal 31.5 percent from the field in their loss to a middling Quinnipiac team and have been below 68 points in four of the last five games (a 2-3 stretch). I don’t see the Peacocks lighting up the scoreboard here either, which should give Niagara a decent shot at powering one out.
