Delaware State managed two wins in their first four games, but it’s all been downhill from there. The Hornets have since lost to UNC Wilmington, LIU, Delaware, Longwood, Liberty, St. Francis BK, NC Central, Wagner and Temple.
In the Temple game, the Hornets were outscored 35-25 in the first half and 50-23 from there in an ugly 85-48 blowout loss. Leading scorer Myles Carter put up 19 points with nine boards, and Zach Kent managed 12 points with four rebounds.
Over on the Norfolk State side, they won their first five games this year before taking a loss to Xavier. The Spartans went on a four-game win streak, then hit losses to Hampton, Wichita State and New Mexico.
In the New Mexico game, the Spartans could only find 21 points in the first half. Norfolk State ended up losing 68-54. Joe Bryant was the top scorer on 16 points and six rebounds. Dana Tate put up 13 points and six boards as well.
The Spartans are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 at home and 13-4 ATS in their last 17 overall. The under is 6-1 in Norfolk State’s last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Hornets are 16-36 ATS in their last 52 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games. Delaware State is 0-6 ATS in their last six overall.
PICK: I’m probably going with Norfolk State here but staying away. The Spartans haven’t looked very good over their last three games, though; in that stretch Norfolk State hasn’t hit more than 58 points in any game. That said, this should be a much easier matchup and one the Spartans can use to gain some momentum back. I don’t think the Hornets will be able to keep pace here.
