The Alabama A&M Bulldogs and the North Alabama Lions meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Flowers Hall. Alabama A&M is 1-4 so far and coming off a loss to Western Kentucky. As for the Lions, they’re 5-3 this year. North Alabama beat Carver College in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Alabama A&M got a win over Tennessee State 82-73 in their opener to start the year off on a high note. Since then however, the Bulldogs have lost four straight to Jacksonville State, Cincinnati, UAB and Western Kentucky.
In the Western Kentucky loss, the Bulldogs were outscored 47-25 in the first half and couldn’t do much from there in an 82-62 loss. Garrett Hicks topped the team on 21 points, and Jalen Johnson added 10 points with four boards.
Over on the North Alabama side, they had a 1-3 start that featured losses to Mississippi State, Manhattan and Iona. The Lions have since hit a four-game win streak, taking out Oakwood, Alabama State, MS Valley State and Carver College.
In the win over Carver, North Alabama got off to a good start with a 47-22 first half. The Lions gave up just 18 points from there in a 103-40 blowout win. Leading scorer Daniel Ortiz put up 22 points with seven rebounds.
The Lions are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games. The under is 7-0 in North Alabama’s last seven Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 road games and 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 overall. Alabama A&M is 2-5 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games.
PICK: I’m probably going to stay with North Alabama. The Lions are coming off a cupcake matchup against Carver, where they shot 50 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from 3-point range and pulled down 56 rebounds. In other words, everything went smoothly. North Alabama is scoring well over this four-game win streak, with 72 or more points in each.
As for Alabama A&M, I like them to bounce back slightly from a bad outing versus Western Kentucky, but not enough to cover. Should be the Lions if they continue playing well.
