Jacksonville State managed to go 5-5 over their first 10 games, taking losses to Wichita State, Troy, Valparaiso, South Alabama and VCU. After a loss to Alabama, the Gamecocks picked up wins over Little Rock and Carver.
Back on December 28 versus Carver, the Gamecocks jumped out to a 64-29 halftime edge on the way to a 123-59 blowout win. Top scorer Demaree King put up 21 points, and Brandon Huffman added 20 points with five rebounds.
Over on the North Alabama side, they went 7-4 over their first 11 games. The losses came to Mississippi State, Manhattan, Iona and Auburn. The last three games have all been losses to UCF, Gonzaga and Lipscomb.
Matched up against Lipscomb on Tuesday, the Lions went into halftime down 41-31. North Alabama couldn’t get any closer in an 84-74 loss. Jamari Blackmon finished on 22 points, and CJ Brim added 14 points with four rebounds.
The Lions are 1-4 ATS in the last five Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in the last five overall. The over is 4-1 in North Alabama’s last five as an underdog.
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games. Jacksonville State is 16-5 ATS in the last 21 overall.
PICK: I’m probably going to try Jacksonville State. It’s been a little while since the Gamecocks have been on the court, though. Still, Jacksonville State has scored pretty well against comparable competition lately, and they’ve got a combined 210 points over their last two games. As for North Alabama, they’ve been under 65 points in four of their last six, so I don’t see them keeping pace for the whole game. The Gamecocks seem a better cover option here.
