The Hampton Pirates will travel to the Corbett Sports Center to take on the North Carolina A&T Aggies this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The Hampton Pirates lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 4-8 on the season after being defeated by the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs, 78-69, this past Saturday. Hampton trailed by a 40-35 margin at halftime and could not fight back after Gardner-Webb took a 72-60 lead with 4:40 left in regulation. Hampton shot 36.2% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Gardner-Webb to shoot 54.0% from the field & 52.9% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Pirates was Russell Dean who had 27 points, 5 rebounds, & 1 assist.

On the season, Hampton is averaging 62.2 ppg on 38.4% shooting from the field. The Pirates are averaging 5.8 three-pointers per game on 27.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Hampton has been led by Najee Garvin (16.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.8 apg), Russell Dean (13.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.1 spg), Marquis Godwin (6.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg), & DeAngelo Epps (6.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg).

Defensively, Hampton is allowing their opponents to average 65.9 ppg on 42.1% shooting from the field. The Pirates have a rebound margin of -7.4 and a turnover margin of 1.7.

The North Carolina A&T Aggies won their 3rd straight game and improved to 7-9 on the season after defeating the Radford Highlanders, 73-72, this past Saturday. North Carolina A&T was outstanding on the offensive side of the ball against Radford and was able to secure the victory after Demetric Horton hit a game-winning jumper with 1:08 left in regulation. North Carolina A&T shot 56.8% from the field & 45.5% from beyond the arc while allowing Radford to shoot 43.1% from the field & 38.5% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Aggies was Marcus Watson who had 18 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, & 1 steal.

On the season, North Carolina A&T is averaging 68.9 ppg on 43.1% shooting from the field The Aggies are averaging 6.6 three-pointers per game on 31.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, North Carolina A&T has been led by Marcus Watson (12.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg), Demetric Horton (11.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.4 spg), & David Beatty (9.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.3 spg), &K Kameron Langley (5.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 5.3 apg, 1.7 spg).

Defensively, North Carolina A&T is allowing their opponents to an average of 69.6 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Aggies have a rebound margin of -2.0 and a turnover margin of 2.1.

The Pirates are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win and just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Aggies are 4-1 Ats in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record & 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Hampton has been led by their defense which ranks 108th in scoring defense & 161st in defensive FG%, however, the Pirates have really struggled on the offensive end, ranking just 328th in scoring offense 7 341st in FG%. North Carolina A&T has been led by their defense which ranks 149th in defensive FG% & 35th in steals per game, however, the offense has struggled at times this season and currently ranks just 257th in scoring offense.

Hampton comes into this game with just a 1-5 road record and it’s hard to imagine that the Pirates offense finds much success against a North Carolina A&T defense that can create turnovers. North Carolina A&T is a perfect 4-0 at home and as I think the Aggies will be able to do enough offensively at home to pull away in the 2nd half and cover this spread. Take North Carolina A&T to cover. Good Luck!
