The Campbell Camels and the North Carolina Tar Heels meet Sunday in college basketball action from Dean Smith Center. Here’s a North Carolina vs Campbell prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best North Carolina vs Campbell pick.

Campbell Camels Betting Preview

Campbell came out of the gate with a 3-4 run, taking losses to Virginia, St. Francis PA, Ohio State and Evansville in that time. It’s been a 2-3 run since then with losses to Coastal Carolina, Morgan State and Longwood.

In the Longwood game on December 18, the Camels were looking at a 14-point deficit by halftime. Campbell didn’t get any closer on a 43-35 second half and lost 77-55. The only double-digit team scorer was Colby Duggan with 13 points.

North Carolina Tar Heels Betting Preview

Over on the Tar Heels’ side, they lost to only Kansas in their first five games, then hit a losing streak versus Auburn, Michigan State and Alabama. North Carolina has since beaten Georgia Tech, La Salle and UCLA in their last four outings.

The Tar Heels were in trouble on a 40-32 halftime deficit in their last game versus UCLA back on December 21. North Carolina came back with a 44-34 run and took the win 76-74, though. Ian Jackson came off the bench for a team-high 24 points and four rebounds.

Why the North Carolina Tar Heels will win

  • North Carolina has won 20 of its last 21 games against non-Conference opponents at Dean E. Smith Center.
  • Campbell has lost seven of its last eight road night games against non-Conference opponents.
  • Campbell has lost the first half in each of its last seven games against the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Why the Campbell Fighting Camels will win

  • Campbell has won each of its last seven games following a home loss.
  • North Carolina has lost each of its last three night games.
  • The road team has won the first half in each of Campbell’s last five games.

North Carolina vs Campbell Prediction

I’ll stay with North Carolina. The Tar Heels posted a great comeback effort in the second half of their last outing versus UCLA, eventually shooting a nice 46.8 percent from the field with a 34-28 rebounding advantage. The 18 turnovers (for 24 UCLA points) were a major blemish, though. That said, North Carolina has looked pretty good over their last four games, with a six-point loss to a ranked Florida team being the only down outing.

As for Campbell, they were drilled by a pretty good Longwood team in their last game. The Camels shot just 33.3 percent from the field and got out-rebounded 43-27 alongside 14 turnovers in the defeat. Campbell is going to have even more issues on the glass here, so I don’t think they’ll get anywhere close to the Tar Heels on the scoreboard.
