Clemson Tigers
The Tigers only lost one of their first 12 games this year (79-77 versus Memphis). Since then Clemson is 3-6 with losses to Miami, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Duke and Virginia. The wins were versus Boston College, Florida State and Louisville in that time.
In the Virginia matchup back on Saturday, the Tigers faced an eight-point deficit going into the second half. Clemson came back with a 39-32 run from there but still lost 66-65. Leading team scorer PJ Hall put up 19 points with six rebounds and one assist in the losing effort.
North Carolina Tar Heels
Over on the Tar Heels’ side, they lost to Villanova, UConn and Kentucky in their first 10 games this year. North Carolina would beat Oklahoma, Charleston Southern, Pittsburgh, Clemson, NC State, Syracuse, Louisville, Boston College, Wake Forest, Florida State and Duke over the next 12 games.
In the Duke matchup on Saturday, the Tar Heels were up by 10 points by the break. North Carolina hit a 49-48 run from there and powered out the big win 93-84 in the end. Armando Bacot was the team’s leading scorer on 25 points and 10 boards. Harrison Ingram also doubled on 21 points and 13 rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE CLEMSON VS NORTH CAROLINA PREDICTION
I’ll stay with North Carolina. The Tar Heels put up a great effort in their last matchup versus Duke, shooting 50 percent from the field with 35 rebounds and 18 team assists alongside just five turnovers. North Carolina has now scored 73 or more points in seven straight games, a 6-1 run.
As for Clemson, they took a 65-55 loss at home the last time these teams met up back on January 6. The Tigers shot just 36.2 percent from the field in that one and 1-of-18 (5.6 percent) from 3-point range. Clemson is going to have another difficult matchup here, and being at Dean Smith center won’t help their cause.
