The Michigan Wolverines and the North Carolina Tar Heels meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Dean Smith Center. Michigan is 2-1 in their last three games and coming off a win over Tarleton State. As for North Carolina, they’re 1-2 in their last three and beat UNC Asheville in their last appearance. Michigan began the year with wins over Buffalo and Prairie View before a two-point loss versus Seton Hall. The Wolverines then beat UNLV, lost to Arizona 80-62 and took out Tarleton State 65-54 over the next trio.

In the win over Tarleton State, the Wolverines had a 31-22 halftime edge and rode that toward a 65-54 win. Eli Brooks led the way on 15 points, while Caleb Houstan notched a double-double on 14 points and 10 boards.

Over on the North Carolina side, they won their first three games of the year versus Loyola MD, Brown and Charleston. Two losses followed for the Tar Heels against Purdue and Tennessee before a bounce-back win over UNC Asheville.

North Carolina didn’t have many issues with UNC Asheville. The Tar Heels led 37-24 at the break and outscored the Bulldogs 35-29 from there in a 72-53 win. Armando Bacot led the team with 22 points and seven rebounds.

UNC is 0-7-1 ATS in their last eight overall and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win. The over is 4-1 in North Carolina’s last five overall.

Meanwhile, the Wolverines are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. Michigan is 6-2 ATS in the last eight Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m going to try North Carolina. This one’s tricky though; neither team has played well against ranked opponents so far. North Carolina lost to Purdue 93-84 and Tennessee 89-72. As for Michigan, they fell to Arizona 80-62 but were close with Seton Hall 67-65 in the loss. Michigan has scored 65 or fewer points in three of their last four games, and the team seems to lack fire right now.

As for North Carolina, they’ve hit 72 or more points in each of their six games so far. Provided the Tar Heels can get to scoring early here, I think they’ll be in line for a cover. Should be a really fun game to watch however, and competitive as well.
