In Saturday’s game versus Villanova the Volunteers had a tough matchup. Tennessee got off to an awful start with just 15 points in the first half and limped to a 71-53 defeat. Santiago Vescovi led the team with his 23 points and six rebounds.
Over on the North Carolina side, they managed a win over Loyola-MD in their first game of the year, taking it 83-67. Wins followed in the next two outings, 94-87 over Brown and 94-83 over Charleston for a 3-0 start.

Meanwhile, the Tar Heels are 0-4-1 in their last five overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four as a favorite. The Tar Heels are 5-3 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss.
PICK: I’m going to try Tennessee. The Volunteers have only had the one bad game so far this year, and that was mostly due to Villanova being Villanova. Tennessee shot just 33.3 percent from the field with nine assists and 18 turnovers, but stayed strong on the boards with a mild 41-39 rebounding deficit.
As for North Carolina, they shot well (44.9 percent) and rebounded well (37) against Purdue, but gave up 55.7 percent shooting on the other side and couldn’t keep up. It’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back here.
