North Dakota vs Dixie State 12/18/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Dixie State Trailblazers and the North Dakota Fighting Hawks meet Saturday in college basketball action from the Betty. Dixie State is sitting at 6-5 so far. The Trailblazers are coming off a win over SAGU American Indian College. As for North Dakota, they’re 4-8 this year and beat North Central MN in their last appearance. Dixie State limped to a 1-5 start this year, taking losses to Gonzaga, Texas State, CSU Northridge, USC and Weber State along the way. The Trailblazers have since won their last five over Bethesda (twice), St. Katherine, Denver and SAGU AIC. 

In the matchup versus SAGU American Indian College, the Trailblazers posted a 47-23 edge in the first half and went on a 67-26 run from there for a 114-49 blowout win. Top scorer Cameron Gooden finished on 16 points, four assists and five boards. 

Over on the North Dakota side, they got a couple of wins over Montana and Troy in their first three games. The Hawks would lose three straight before a win over Presentation, then lost three more before the victory over North Central MN. 

In the Tuesday matchup versus North Central MN, North Dakota didn’t have too many issues. The Hawks scored 59 points in the first and 51 more in the second in a 110-65 victory. Matt Norman finished with 23 points, five rebounds and six assists. 

The Hawks are 0-7 ATS in their last seven games overall and 8-20 ATS in their last 28 after a straight-up win. The under is 4-1 in North Dakota’s last five overall. 

Meanwhile, the Trailblazers are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and the under is 8-3 in their last 11 Saturday games. The over is 5-1 in Dixie State’s last six road games. 

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with North Dakota, but staying away. The Hawks have put together a few good offensive showings so far this year, but against comparable teams they’ve been struggling. North Dakota has 60 or fewer points in two of their last three games and they’re giving up a truckload of points to decent squads. 

As for Dixie State, this should be a more competitive matchup compared to what they’ve been facing lately. I like both teams to score pretty well here, and I think the Hawks can keep the pace if they’re playing to their capabilities.
