The South Dakota Coyotes and the North Dakota Fighting Hawks meet Saturday in college basketball action from the Betty.
South Dakota enters this one at 11-7 so far. The Coyotes had a lengthy win streak broken by South Dakota State in their last game. As for North Dakota, they’re 6-15 this season. The Hawks are 1-2 in their last three games and coming off a loss to Denver. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
South Dakota began their year at just 1-6 with a lone win over South Dakota State. The Coyotes hit their stride after that however, beating Mount Marty, Denver, UMKC, Western Illinois and Omaha. South Dakota beat South Dakota State Friday but fell in the Saturday rematch.
In the 89-78 loss to South Dakota State, the Coyotes’ top scorer was Stanley Umude with 34 points, four rebounds and three assists. AJ Plitzuweit was also in double-figures there with 20 points, five assists and two rebounds in 37 minutes on the floor.
Over on the North Dakota side, they’ve had a choppy season and have been unable to string together consecutive wins thus far. In their last six, the Hawks are 2-4 with a pair of losses to South Dakota State and one each to Western Illinois and Denver.
In the 85-81 OT loss to Denver on Saturday, North Dakota’s Filip Rebraca led the team on 16 points with six rebounds and Ethan Igbanugo had 15 points with three assists and one rebound. Seybian Sims doubled up there with 13 points and 11 boards as well.
North Dakota is 1-4 ATS in the last five home games and 0-4 ATS in the last four overall. The over is 7-0 in the Hawks’ last seven overall and 5-0 in their last five after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Coyotes are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. South Dakota is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 overall and the over is 19-9-1 in their last 29 road games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with South Dakota. These teams last met way back on December 10 in a 75-71 Hawks win. Both teams shot above 45 percent from the floor, and though South Dakota had an 18-8 edge on team assists the Hawks out-rebounded the Coyotes 37-30. South Dakota has gotten better since that game, and I think they’re ripe for a revenge cover here.
