North Florida vs Florida Gulf Coast Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/9/23

The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles and the North Florida Ospreys meet Thursday in college basketball action from UNF Arena. Florida Gulf Coast is 14-11 so far this year. The Eagles lost to North Alabama in their last game. As for North Florida, they’re 10-14 overall and coming off a win over Jacksonville. Florida Gulf Coast Eagles 

Florida Gulf Coast managed to go 12-4 over their first 16 games—a pretty good run to start out the season. The Eagles are just 2-7 since then however, losing to Eastern Kentucky, Bellarmine, Kennesaw State, Queens NC, Liberty, Central Arkansas and North Alabama. 

In the North Alabama game on Saturday, the Eagles scored 38 points in the first half, 35 in the second and 12 in overtime during a tough loss 87-85. Isaiah Thompson scored 24 points and Chase Johnston added 21 points in the defeat. 

North Floria Ospreys 

Over on the North Florida side, they kicked off the year on a shaky run, going 7-9 through their first 16 outings. The Ospreys are 3-5 since then with losses to Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Central Arkansas and North Alabama. 

In the Jacksonville rematch back on Saturday, the Ospreys were up 35-28 in the locker room. North Florida kept the pace on a 30-30 second-half run and won it 65-58. Jose Placer was the leading scorer with 21 points and five assists.

I’ll probably stick with North Florida here. Also probably not touching it, though. The Ospreys have been able to get some positive vibes flowing with consecutive wins over Jacksonville, scoring a combined 141 points along the way. North Florida has been a mixed bag in the win column lately, but they score pretty well more often than not. The last time these teams met up, Florida Gulf Coast took a commanding 82-57 victory at Alico Arena. I like North Florida to play well enough to get into a cover/win during the rematch.
