The Kennesaw State Owls will travel to UNF Arena to take on the North Florida Ospreys this Monday night in College Basketball action.

The Kennesaw State Owls won their 3rd straight game and improved to 7-8 on the season after defeating the Stetson Hatters, 77-49, this past Saturday. Kennesaw State led by just a 38-35 margin at halftime, however, the Owls dominated the Hatters on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and easily pulled away after taking a 62-40 lead with 9:22 left in regulation. Kennesaw State shot 51.9% from the field & 40.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Stetson to shoot 33.3% from the field & 39.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Owls was Terrell Burden who had 13 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Kennesaw State is averaging 78.4 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Owls are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 36.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Kennesaw State has been led by Chris Youngblood (13.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.1 spg), Terrell Burden (12.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 5.1 apg, 1.4 spg), Spencer Rodgers (11.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.3 spg), Kasen Jennings (8.6 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensviely, Kennesaw State is allowing their opponents to average 68.9 ppg on 43.4% shooting from the field. The Owls have a rebound margin of 5.6 and a turnover margin of 2.1.

The North Florida Ospreys lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 4-13 on the season after being defeated by the Jacksonville Dolphins, 54-51, this past Saturday. North Florida led by a 24-21 margin at halftime, however, the Ospreys offense struggled in the 2nd half and Jacksonville was able to take the lead for good after a Tyreese Davis three-pointer gave the Dolphins a 52-49 lead with 1:08 left in regulation. North Florida shot 35.4% from the field & 12.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Jacksonville to shoot 37.0% from the field & 23.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Ospreys was Carter Hendricksen who had 17 points & 4 rebounds.

On the season, North Florida is averaging 67.2 ppg on 41.4% shooting from the field. The Ospreys are averaging 9.1 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, North Florida has been led by Jose Placer (12.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.7 apg), Carter Hendricksen (11.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.5 apg), Jadyn Parker (8.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.9 bpg), & Emmanuel Adedoyin (7.1 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.5 apg).

Defensively, North Florida is allowing their opponents to average 71.4 ppg on 43.9% shooting from the field. The Ospreys have a rebound margin of -7.0 and a turnover margin of -1.1.

The Owls are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 game following a straight up win, however, are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Monday games. The Ospreys are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 Monday games, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

Kennesaw State has been led by their offense which ranks 46th in scoring offense, 35th in FG%, & 59th in 3P-FG%, however the defense has below average and currently ranks just 180th in scoring defense & 226th in defensive FG%. North Florida has struggled on both ends of the court this season as the Ospreys come into this game ranked just 281st in scoring offense, 298th in FG%, & 241st in scoring defense.

Kennesaw State is a better team than their 7-8 record indicates and despite being just 1-6 on the road this season, there is no question in my mind that they are better than this North Florida that recently loss at home to the same Stetson team that Owls destroyed by 28 points on Saturday. I’m surprised that this spread is so low, and I think the play here is to take the Owls to cover.
