The Evansville Purple Aces were 17-18 last season and they finished 6-14 in the MVC, which was 10th in the standings. The Purple Aces scored 70.9 points per game and they allowed 73.2 points per game last year. Evansville opened up the 23-24 season with a 72-64 win over Miami (OH), but they started conference play just 2-7 in their first nine MVC games. The Purple Aces ended the regular season with seven straight losses but did pick up a win over Illinois State in the MVC tournament. Evansville went on to beat Quinnipiac in the CBI but did lose to Seattle. 

Evansville did lose their top two scorers from last season, which accounted for about 25 points per game, but they do bring back Kenny Strawbridge Jr. and Chuck Bailey, who were their third and fourth scorers. Tanner Cuff is also expected to be a key player this season and they picked up a solid transfer from Butler.

North Texas comes into this matchup with the home-court advantage and they are a pretty big favorite, but they lost a ton of production from last season. Evansville also lost their top scorers, but I think they are positioned decently well coming into this season.
