The Charleston Cougars will travel to Matthews Arena to take on the Northeastern Huskies this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The Charleston Cougars lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 14-12 on the season after being defeated by the Towson Tigers, 80-77, this past Saturday. Charleston led by a 41-34 margin at halftime, however, the Cougars struggled defensively in the 2nd half and could not fight back after a three-point play by the Tigers Antonio Rizzuto gave Towson a 78-75 lead with :58 seconds left in regulation. Charleston shot 51.1% from the field & 39.1% from beyond the arc while allowing Towson to shoot 39.7% from the field & 30.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Cougars was Dimitrius Underwood who had a double-double with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, & 3 steals.

On the season, Charleston is averaging 77.2 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Cougars are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 32.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Charleston has been led by John Meeks (14.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.0 spg), Reyne Smith (11.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.4 apg), Brenden Tucker (11.3 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.0 spg), & Dimitrius Underwood (10.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 3.2 apg, 2.2 spg). John Meeks missed the Cougars game against Towson due to a knee injury and is questionable for this matchup.

Defensively, Charleston is allowing their opponents to average 75.9 ppg on 44.8% shooting from the field. The Cougars have a rebound margin of 6.3 and a turnover margin of -0.5.

The Northeastern Huskies lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 7-19 on the season after getting defeated by the Hofstra Pride, 76-73, this past Saturday. Northeastern looked like they were going to pull off the upset victory after taking a 73-65 lead with just 1:31 left in regulation, however, the Huskies fell apart late, and Hofstra was able to pull off the incredible come from behind victory after Zach Cooks hit a game-winning layup for the Pride with just :08 seconds left in the game. Northeastern shot 48.2% from the field & 38.1% from beyond the arc while allowing Hofstra to shoot 47.5% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Huskies was Chris Doherty who had 22 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, & 2 blocks.

On the season, Northeastern is averaging 64.5 ppg on 43.9% shooting from the field. The Huskies are averaging 64.5 ppg on 43.9% shooting from the field. The Huskies are averaging 6.8 three-pointers per game on 32.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Northeastern has been led by Jahmyl Telfort (13.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.7 apg), Chris Doherty (11.5 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.8 apg), Nikola Djogo (11.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.1 spg), Shaquille Walters (11.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.6 apg).

Defensively, Northeastern is allowing their opponents to average 70.5 ppg on 46.5% shooting from the field. The Wildcats have a rebound margin of 2.7 and a turnover margin of -4.3.

The Cougars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. Northeastern & 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games vs. CAA opponents. The Huskies are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games & 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games.

Charleston has been led by an offense that can put up points as the Cougars rank 45th in scoring offense, however, Charleston hasn’t shot the ball that well this season (270th in FG%) and has certainly struggled on the defensive end as the Cougars currently rank just 318th in scoring defense & 270th in defensive FG%. Northeastern hasn’t had a great season, however, the Huskies have been decent at home which includes wins over Colgate, UMass, & Towson, and between the fact that Charleston might be without their top scorer in John Meeks and that Northeastern has looked decent as of late in competitive losses at Drexel & Hofstra, I think the Northeastern snaps their losing streak and wins this pick-em. Good Luck!
