The Eastern Washington Eagles and the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks meet Saturday in college basketball action from Walkup Skydome. Eastern Washington is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Portland State. In that one the Eagles logged a five-point win. Eastern Washington went an even 6-6 over their first dozen games this year. The Eagles managed wins over Walla Walla, CSU Northridge, Washington State, Omaha, North Dakota and Multnomah during that stretch of outings.
On Thursday versus Portland State, Eastern Washington posted a 30-27 advantage at halftime and kept it going for a 63-58 win. Leading the way for the Eagles was Steele Venters with 20 points and six rebounds.
Over on the Northern Arizona side, they went 3-3 over their first six games this year with wins over Benedictine Mesa, CSU Bakersfield and UTRGV. The Lumberjacks are 1-5 since then with losses to CSU Fullerton, Weber State, South Dakota, San Diego and Gonzaga.
In the Gonzaga matchup, Northern Arizona was outpaced 48-30 in the first half and 47-19 from there in a 95-49 blowout defeat. Tops in scoring was Jalen Cone on 19 points, and Carson Towt added 11 rebounds with seven points.
The Lumberjacks are 1-4 ATS in their last five at home and 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall. The over is 4-1 in Northern Arizona’s last five at home.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 22-6 ATS in their last 28 road games and 45-22-1 ATS in their last 68 overall. The under is 4-0 in Eastern Washington’s last four overall.
PICK: I’m probably going to try Eastern Washington here. The Eagles weren’t super flashy against Portland State on Thursday, but they got the job done. The scoring has been a bit lax over the last couple of games, but I like Eastern Washington to put up a 70-ish total here.
As for Northern Arizona, they’ve been below 60 points in four of their last six games so they’ve really got to get off to a good start in this one. I don’t think the Lumberjacks have the legs to knock out a cover, though.
