The South Dakota Coyotes and the Northern Colorado Bears meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Bank of Colorado Arena. South Dakota is currently 5-3 on the year. South Dakota went 4-1 over their first five games with victories over Air Force, Southern U, Tennessee State and Presentation College. After losses to Nebraska and San Jose State, the Coyotes bounced back with a win over Waldorf.
In the Waldorf College game, the Coyotes didn’t have much trouble after jumping out to a 37-13 halftime edge. South Dakota ended up winning 93-37. Erik Oliver led the way on 20 points with three rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Northern Colorado side, they went 3-1 in their first four with wins over Pacific, Hawaii and Colorado College. After a four-game losing streak, the Bears got back into the win column versus Montana State and Montana.
In the Montana game on Saturday, Northern Colorado was down 44-36 at halftime. The Bears stormed back with a 42-31 edge from there in a 78-75 win. Daylen Kountz topped the team on 18 points, six boards and five assists.
The Bears are 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 as an underdog. The over is 4-0 in Northern Colorado’s last four overall.
Meanwhile, the Coyotes are 1-6 ATS in their last seven overall and 0-6 ATS in their last six road games. The over is 5-1 in South Dakota’s last six road games.
PICK: I’m staying with South Dakota in this one. We should have a decent matchup on our hands, though. The Coyotes rolled in their last game, shooting 52.9 percent from the field with 43 rebounds and 19 team assists (and just five turnovers). It was a nice bounce-back after a couple of down games.
As for Northern Colorado, they get major credit for the nice comeback win over Montana in their last game. I like the Bears to give it a good effort here and probably win as well in an eventual South Dakota cover.
