Northern Illinois got a win in their first outing of the year against Washington. The Huskies scored 36 points in the first half on the way to a 71-64 win. Game two was NIU’s first loss in an 85-49 blowout at the hands of Indiana.
The Huskies couldn’t do much against Missouri in their third game either. NIU posted just 16 points in the second half and stumbled to a 54-37 loss. Trendon Hankerson was the team’s top scorer with just eight points and two rebounds.
Over on the Boston side, their first game of the year was a loss, 71-62 to Rhode Island. The Terriers picked it up in game two with an 85-61 win over Gordon College, but then fell to Northeastern by a score of 49-48.
Northern Illinois was able to even up their record in their last game against Hartford. The Huskies held a 41-25 halftime edge and were able to hang on in a 75-70 victory. Walter Whyte led the way on 21 points with eight rebounds and a steal.
Boston U is 3-13 ATS in their last 16 home games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven overall. The Terriers are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 Sunday games.
Meanwhile, the Huskies are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games and 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 overall. The over is 5-1 in NIU’s last six after an ATS loss.
PICK: I’m going with Boston. The Terriers put up a pretty good effort against Hartford in their last game—though the second half was a little sketchy. Boston shot 45.9 percent from the floor with 38 rebounds and 12 team assists.
As for NIU, they’re coming off an absolute dud of a game with 24.1 percent shooting and just four assists. I expect the Huskies to bounce back and play better here, but I like the Terriers on a cover.
